Beaches
There is absolutely nothing as wonderful as spending the day on a beach, whether it is at Lake Pend Oreille, Priest Lake, or along the banks of the Pend Oreille River.  Immerse yourself in the sun's golden glow, then take a dip in the clear, cool water.  It doesn't get any better than this.

Lake Pend Oreille Beaches

City Beach - Walk one block south on Bridge Steet from 1st Avenue in downtown Sandpoint and you will find City Beach.  The park is a sandy  peninsula that is full of activity.  There are shallow areas for young children and floating docks for kids of all ages to jump from.  The park offers a food concession building, rest rooms, picnic tables, BBQ, tennis courts, volley ball courts, basketball courts, and a boat launch.  Several major events take place here each year.  The July 4th party and fireworks and the Arts and Crafts Fair are popular events.

Dog Beach - Fido isn't allowed at City Beach but he is not forgotten.  Park at the north end of the Long Bridge and walk the short distance down the bike path to Dog Beach in Sandpoint.

Farragut State Park - This park, located on the southern tip of Lake Pend Oreille, has several beaches.  Try Beaver and Bay Beach,  the views are breathtaking.  Farragut is the second largest state park in Idaho, you can obtain a map at the visitor center. Drive south on Highway 95 from Sandpoint approximately 25 miles to Athol, then go 5 miles east of Athol on Highway 54 to Farragut.

Garfield Bay and Green Bay - Garfield Bay is about 15 minutes from Sandpoint and worth the drive.  Head south on Highway 95 from Sandpoint 6 miles to Sagle Road, then left for 6 miles to the Garfield Bay turn off to the right.  Follow this road for 2 miles to Garfield Bay. There are beaches along the road.  Before you reach the Captain's Table restaurant, there is a road going off to the left that leads to Green Bay.  Follow this road for .4 miles to Road 532 at the red firehouse, turn right and go approximately 2 miles to beautiful Green Bay.  This is a great beach for young adults.  There are cliffs to jump into the lake from.  This beach is quieter during the week.

Sam Owen Park - Drive 21 miles east from Sandpoint on Highway 200 then turn right on Peninsula Road toward Sam Owen Park.  You can park in the day use area and utilize the beach.

Pend Oreille River Beaches

Springy Point - Take Highway 95 south from Sandpoint to the first road at the end of the Long Bridge.  Go right for 3 miles to Springy Point.  There is a nice sandy beach, a boat launch and campsites.

Priest River Recreation Area - This is a great place to spend the day with the kids.  It is located right before the town of Priest River on the left as you are driving west on Highway 2 from Sandpoint.

Priest Lake Beaches

Indian Creek and Lion Head - There are swimming beaches at these camp grounds located on the east side of Priest Lake.  Indian Creek is located at mile 8 on Eastshore Road and Lion Head is at mile 20.

Outlet Campground - Located on the clear waters of Priest Lake.  25 miles north of Priest River go east at the south end of the lake one mile on Luby Bay Road.

Reeder Bay - This is a beautiful beach near Elkins Resort.  Take Highway 57 from Priest River 36 miles north  to Nordman then right on Reeder Bay Road for 2 miles.
