City and State Parks
We are fortunate to have  many beautiful city and state parks in the two northern counties of Idaho.  This page will tell you about our parks, including Farragut, the second largest state park in Idaho and the 755 acre Priest Lake State Park. 

There are city parks with skate parks, tennis courts, basketball courts, softball and soccer fields, a shooting range, volley ball courts, bike paths and other amenities. 
City Parks

3rd Street Pier - This is a quiet waterfront get away right in Sandpoint with a pier overlooking Lake Pend Oreille on 60' of waterfront for swimming.  Follow 3rd Avenue south until you reach the lake.

Bonners Ferry Fairgrounds - Located on the Kootenai River, the fairgrounds host many events including a motor cross race.  In Bonners Ferry take Riverside Street left off of Highway 95 on the north end of the downtown area.

Downtown Square - This square was a true community effort to establish.  Children love the interactive fountain.  This is a great place to people watch, or play on the chess tables.  Craft tables set up here during the Farmers Market, every Wednesday and Saturday, May to October. Downtown square is located at 306 N. 3rd Avenue in  Sandpoint.

Farmin Park - Next to the Downtown Square, Farmin Park is the home of the Farmers Market where you will find home grown food and flowers and local home made delicacies and crafts.   There is always live music during the Farmers Market.  Located on Main Street and 3rd Ave.

Hickory Park - This is a neighborhood park with a basketball court, picnic tables and BBQ, a playground and a skate board feature.  Take Cedar Street to Boyer then turn right to Hickory Street,then left one block to the park.

Outdoor Shooting Range - The range offers 14 covered concrete shooting lanes with 25 to 200 yard shooting distances in a fenced area. Take Cedar Street west to Boyer then right about 1 mile to Baldy Mountain Road, then left 4 miles to the end of the pavement, then right to the range.

Sandpoint City Beach - This peninsula on Lake Pend Oreille
is the sandy point from which our town got it's name. Always full of activity, this park offers multiple beach areas with life guards and shallow areas for young children.  Other amenities include sand volley ball courts, a food concession, a basketball court, picnic tables, BBQ, a playground, horse shoe pits, a marina, boat launches and a bike or pedestrian trail around the perimeter of the park.  From 1st Avenue in downtown Sandpoint take Bridge Street right two blocks to City Beach.  Open 4 AM to 11 PM daily

Travers Park - The sporting park with The Concrete Lake Skate Board Park,  Travers offers baseball, softball, soccer and a football field, tennis courts, rest rooms, a playground, and a bicycle or pedestrian path around the perimeter.  Travers Park adjoins Centennial Field and the Great Northern Park.  Located at 2102 Pine Street, take Highway 2 west to Pine Street then turn right and go approximately one mile to the park on the right. 

Lakeview and Memorial Parks - Two adjoining parks feature the Bonner County Museum, Native Plant Arboretum, tennis courts, picnic tables, basketball and roller hockey rink, rest rooms, a playground, bike or pedestrian paths, and a boat launch.  There is a Memorial dedicated to Bonner County service men and women lost in wars from WWI on.   Memorial Park is the home field for Sandpoint High School football, baseball and soccer.  The Sandpoint Babe Ruth, American Legion and Senior Men's Baseball Teams play here.  Memorial Field hosts the internationally renowned Festival at Sandpoint, the two week concert series each August. Take Highway 2 west to Boyer, then turn left and go 6 blocks to the parks.

Priest River Skate Board Park - Located just north of Highway 2 in Priest River, this is a great Skate park.  


State Parks

Farragut State Park

Farragut State Park is located near Bayview Idaho on the south end of Lake Pend Oreille.  Once the world's second largest  naval training station, it is now a  4,000 acre park. 
The park has a gift shop, museum and visitor center where you can obtain maps and information.  Farragut amenities include  220 campsites, 6 equestrian sites, 10 camping cabins, 4 group camps, an RV dump station, picnic areas, beaches, boat launches, hiking, biking, cross country skiing, snow shoe and horse trails, disc golf, a model airplane flyers field, playgrounds, horse shoe pits, sand volley ball courts, an amphitheater, orienteering course, sledding and films and summer programs by the park naturalist.  208-683-2425

Priest Lake State Park

Priest Lake State Park lies 30 miles south of the Canadian Border nestled below the Selkirk Mountains and along the eastern shore of Priest Lake.  Priest Lake is 33 miles north of the town of Priest River off Highway 57.  The lake is 19 miles long and 300' deep.  A two mile long thoroughfare connects Priest Lake to Upper Priest Lake.  Upper Priest Lake is only accessible by foot, mountain bike or boat. 

Priest Lake State Park offers 151 campsites, 5 camping cabins, a group camp area, cross country skiing, snowshoe and snowmobile trails, fishing, boating, beaches, hiking, biking, volley ball, and horse shoe pits.  There are several campgrounds in the park.  Indian Creek is located at the 8 mile marker on Eastshore Drive.  Lionhead is located at the 20 mile marker on Eastshore Drive.  For camping reservations call 208-630-5050 for information call 208-443-2200

Round Lake State Park

Round Lake State Park is a very natural 58 acre lake and a 142 acre park.   The lake is open year round for fishing and is a Family Fishing Waters designated area with relaxed fishing regulations.  The amenities here include 51 campsites, rest rooms, showers, an RV dump station, picnic tables, BBQ, hiking, biking, swimming, canoe rentals and often there will be a nice bonfire to compliment your ice fishing.  Take Highway 95 south from Sandpoint 10 miles to Dufort Road, then turn right and go approximately 2 miles to Round Lake on the left.  For  information call 208-263-3489
