Amtrak Empire Builder - The historic train depot in Sandpoint is located on the other side of Sand Creek from downtown. Driving Tours
The International Selkirk Loop
A 280 mile driving tour through the Selkirk Mountains of Idaho, Washington and British Columbia Canada. The tour can begin in Sandpoint then north on Highway 95 to Highway 1 in Porthill, then to Highway 21 to Creston BC, take 3A north to Kootenay Bay and ferry across the lake to 3A south to Nelson BC. From Nelson head south on Highway 6 to Metaline, then south on Highway 31 to Highway 20 to Newport, then east on Highway 2 back to Sandpoint.

Lake Pend Oreille Kootenai River Side Trip
A side trip of the Selkirk Loop that takes you to Ross Creek Cedars and other wonderful sites. Sandpoint east on Highway 200 past Clark Fork and into Montana 10 miles to Highway 56 north to Bull River Run and the Ross Creek Cedar Grove. North to Troy Montana and then west on Highway 2 to Highway 95 south to Bonners Ferry and the Wildlife Refuge, then south on Highway 95 back to Sandpoint.
Pend Oreille River South Lake Side Trip
Another side trip along the scenic Pend Oreille River and southwestern side of Bonner County. Go west on Highway 2 from Sandpoint through Priest River to Newport/Oldtown, then south on Highway 41 through the Blanchard Valley to Spirit Lake, then south of Spirit Lake go east on Highway 54 to Athol, then left onto Highway 95 and back to Sandpoint.
